5 Ways To Ditch The Dirt
Ok sure, household cleaners may leave our homes squeaky clean & smelling fresh, but now-a-days their harmful role on the environment & our health is not something to be swept under the rug.
Some of the chemical ingredients in cleaning products increase the risk of cancer, asthma, headaches & skin irritations, so we’ve ransacked our pantries to find the best “go-to” household ingredients to help you ditch the dirt…naturally. And no, going on a “cleaning strike” is not an option, People!
To keep your pad spotless, fresh and free of chemicals, try these natural tips:
- Lemon Juice – removes grease from mirrors & tables
- White Vinegar – disinfects, removes grease & odors, prevents mold formation, cleans windows & floors.
- Table Salt – disinfects & scours
- Baking Soda – scours, cleanses, deodorizes, removes spots, softens fabric & unclogs drains (mixed with vinegar)
- Olive Oil – adds sheen to wood furniture & cabinet doors
Here’s a little secret, ditching your old cleaning products down the drain is NOT COOL! Small traces have been found in our drinking water; so the best place to dump them is at your local Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) Collection Center.
Not down with creating your own cleaning concoctions? Check out the many biodegradable & eco-friendly cleaning products available at your local grocery store. Just make sure there’s a certification logo or seal assuring it’s environmentally safe. Now, that’s fresh!
